What are Chakras?
Chakra translates to Wheel or Disk. Chakras are spinning wheels of Energy or Light within our body. There are seven Chakras situated along the inside of the spine from the tailbone to the crown of the head.
They distribute Source (Creator) Energy throughout the body. Each chakra governs organ systems and glands, has a corresponding colour and crystals.
Chakras are controlled by the Autonomic Nervous System which is governed by the Limbic Brain – the Limbic Brain is responsible for regulating our bodies automatic responses to emotional signals.
There are seven main Chakras in the body – each has its own frequency and because all frequency carries information, each Chakra carries its own intent.
“Therefore, it stands to reason that each Chakra is responsible for certain Energy and Emotions”
Understanding the Chakra energy system and recognizing the emotions and physical symptoms of an unbalanced system will allow you to take positive steps toward balance and correction.
Free flowing energy is key to maintaining a healthy body, mind and spirit.
Chakra 1 = ROOT or Base Chakra = I EXIST
The Root chakra rests at the base of the spine and is represented by the colour Red or Black. The root chakra governs our creativity and sexual glands.
Associated with our connections to family or tribe encompassing safety and survival. We also ground through our base chakra.
It is blocked by Fear and if unbalanced can cause emotions like anxiety and confusion. Physical symptoms of an unbalanced Root charka may be constipation, cold hand and feet, anemia or fatigue.
Dancing, Jogging and jumping can help to activate the Root charkra and increase the energy flow through this centre.
Chakra 2 = SACRAL Chakra = I DESIRE
The Sacral chakra is located in the lower abdomen and is represented by the colour Orange. It governs our balance and digestive system.
Associated with our money and sexual flow., fun, desire and pleasure. It is blocked by Guilt.
If the sacral chakra is out of balance you may experience low sex drive or creative blocks, and physically you may have UTI’s, painful periods or lower back pain.
Yoga enhances the Sacral chakra and activates the flow of energy through this centre.
Chakra 3 = SOLAR PLEXUS Chakra = I CONTROL
The Solar Plexus chakra is located in the top of the abdomen around the diaphragm and is represented by the colour Yellow and the element of Fire. It governs our Adrenals and Willpower and is associated with self esteem, personal goals and personal power.
It is blocked by Shame. If the Solar Plexus chakra is out of balance you may experience low self esteem, nervousness or obsessive compulsive disorder. Physically you may have parasites, diabetes, colitis, poor digestion or memory.
Yoga and deep breathing exercises enhances the energy within the Solar Plexus chakra.
Chakra 4 = HEART Chakra = I LOVE
The heart chakra is located in the chest is located in the chest and is represented by the colours green and/or Pink. It governs our heart and thymus and is associated with Love and Wholeness.
It is connected with relationships with self and others, collective consciousness and emotional balance.
The heart chakra is blocked by Grief. A lack of balance could manifest as a lack of intimacy and empathy. Physically symptoms could include high blood pressure, cancer, breathing disorders or muscular tension.
Helped by laughing, being grateful, showing appreciation and expressing love.
Chakra 5 = THROAT Chakra = I EXPRESS
The Throat chakra is located in the throat and is represented by the colour Blue. It governs our thyroid and para-thyroid and is associated with expression and self-expression.
It is connected with communication and speaking your truth. The throat chakra is blocked by Lies. A lack of balance may express as emotional imbalance and mood swings. Physical symptoms may include bloating, PMS, tongue, jaw and mouth issues.
Helped by singing and gargling and speaking your truth.
Chakra 6 = THIRD-EYE Chakra = I SEE
The Third Eye chakra is located on the forehead between they eyebrows. It is represented by the colour Indigo and governs our Pineal Gland, intuition, vision and truth.
It is connected with spiritual awareness, psychic power, light and intuition. It is blocked by Illusion and when the third-eye chakra is not flowing freely it could manifest in negative thoughts and physically as head aches and eye problems.
Qi Gong, meditation and visualization exercises can help to activate this energy centre.
Chakra 7 = CROWN Chakra = I AM THAT I AM
Represented by the colour purple or white light the crown chakra is located at the top of the head. It is the silence between space and represents spiritual connection.
From the crown chakra we download information from Source (Creator, God – whatever that is for you) and also access the Etheric planes through this chakra.
It represents enlightenment, cosmic conscious and being one with all.
It is blocked by Egoic Attachment. When not in alignment you may experience depression, poor sleep and left/right brain issues.
Hatha Yoga and meditation help to open the crown chakra.
When we awaken or clear our chakra centres it brings a level of consciousness and energy to each centre and the energy begins to flow freely within our body.
CHOOSING AND USING CRYSTALS
How to Chose your Crystals
When using crystals to balance chakras it is important that you have one crystal for each chakra in your kit. In the below table I have listed several choices for each chakra.
You can buy chakra crystal kits that have a crystal for each chakra in the kit or you may prefer to buy the ones that resonate with you individually.
Crystals emit energy and you may be able to feel it when you hold the crystal in your hand. First rub your hands together until they are warm, this activates the Eleventh Chakra and opens the pathway for the energy.
Use the feeling you get from holding the crystal to chose the one that connects with you.
Crystals that correspond to each Chakra
|1 Root||Red||Red Zincite, Garnet, Hematite, Black Obsidian, Black Tourmaline, Smokey Quartz|
|2 Sacral||Orange/ Blue-Green||Orange Calcite, Carnelian, Copper, Imperial Topaz, Fluorite, Blue-green Turquoise|
|3 Solar Plexus||Yellow||Citrine, Amber, Yellow Jasper, Golden Calcite, Yellow Apatite, Tiger-eye|
|4 Heart||Green/Pink||Rose Quartz, Lepidolite, Roselite, Pink Tourmaline, Green Aventurine, Malachite, Jade|
|5 Throat||Blue||Sodalite, Blue Calcite, Blue Kyanite, Angelite, Amazonite, Aquamarine|
|6 Third Eye||Indigo||Lapis Lazuli, Azurite, Tanzanite|
|7 Crown||Violet||Amethyst, Herkimer Diamond, Quartz, White Calcite, Selenite, Apophyllite|
Cleaning your crystals
If you have just purchased or been gifted new crystals it is important to clean away all the old energy the stone has absorbed and start afresh to get the best out of your crystals.
Clean your crystals after use to ensure the negative energy they absorbed during the Chakra clearing process is also dissipated.
There are several ways to cleanse your crystals and bring new energy into them, I suggest choosing the option that resonates best with you, or you can do a combination of techniques.
Place your crystal on the ground under the Full Moon or New Moon. This recharges the crystals using both the magnetic fields of the earth and the energy of the moon.
You can also wash them in running water like a creek, stream or the ocean if you are lucky enough to live near.
Smudging them with white sage or palo santo is also very efficient. Smudging is where the smoke is allowed to waft all around the crystal and it helps to dissipate the negative and discordant energies from the stone.
Selenite and Citrine are self-cleaning and are good to use to keep your other crystals clean. Some crystals like Selenite should not be wet as they dissolve.
BALANCING CHAKRAS USING CRYSTALS
Being an Energy Healer, I use several techniques to determine which Chakras are out of balance for my clients, like pendulum dowsing, the NES Bioenergetic Wellness Scan, or reading their energy.
Pendulum dowsing is my tool of choice and I always start at the feet to determine if the client is grounded and connected to the loving energy of Gaia. If not I place my large Labradorite between their feet.
Moving up to the Root Chakra dowsing the energy level emitting from that area – If the pendulum doesn’t move or gives me a negative answer, I place the appropriate Merkaba Crystal on the area to recharge it.
I continue to move up all chakras testing the energy level and placing the appropriate Merkaba on the area if required. Sometimes the Merkaba is not enough to power the chakra, if it is really depleted or out of balance so I will add a quartz crystal beside it to enhance its energetic power.
MERKABA (Merkabah) is a sacred geometric shape and translates literally to light, spirit, body. The Merkaba Symbol is a shape made of 2 intersecting tetrahedrons. It is known for its healing properties and gives remarkable energy quality to the chakra.
I continue working through the chakra system until each chakra centre is energetically aligned and balanced and the energy is flowing freely through the body.
Through a short visualization mediation the connection to Gaia and to the higher self is strengthened, connection to guides, angles and ascended masters is confirmed and energy is returned to self and sender with all connection and cords cut.
